Ingredients

Topping

1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup margarine or butter
1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips (OR 1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/2 cup cinnamon chips)
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Cake

8-12 ounces softened cream cheese (12 ounces for a creamier cake)
1 1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup margarine or butter
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
2 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips (OR 1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/2 cup cinnamon chips)

Procedure

Prepare topping:

  1. Combine brown sugar and flour.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles course crumbs.
  3. Stir in chips and nuts.
  4. Set aside.

Cake:

  1. Combine cream cheese, sugar, and butter. Mix well until well blended.
  2. Blend in eggs and vanilla.
  3. Combine dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in chips.
  5. Pour into a greased 9×13 baking pan.
  6. Sprinkle with topping.
  7. Bake at 350&deg.F for 50 minutes.
  8. Heat oven to 350&deg.F.

Serves one 9×13 baking pan.
