4 1/2 – 5 1/2 cups unsifted flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 package dry yeast
1 1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) margarine
2 eggs, room temperature


melted margarine (about 4 – 5 tablespoons)
1/3 – 1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon


Combine dough ingredients using your favorite method or:

  1. In a large bowl, mix 1 3/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Combine milk and 1/4 cup margarine and heat to 125-130°F.
  3. Gradually add milk and margarine mixture to dry ingredients. Beat until well-mixed and smooth.
  4. Add eggs and 1/2 cup flour. Beat until shiny.
  5. Add additional flour to make soft dough.
  6. Kneed 8-10 minutes.
  7. Add dough to a greased bowl. After placing dough in bowl, turn so that the greased side is up.
  8. Let rise 1 hour.
  9. Grease two loaf pans.
  10. Divide dough in half.
  11. Roll into 12"x8" rectangle. Brush with melted margarine and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Roll up dough from the 8" edge and place into a greased loaf pan.
  12. Let rise 1 hour.
  13. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.

Makes 2 loaves.
