From Mom C.

3/4 cup margarine or butter
1 cup milk
2 yeast cakes
1 cup flour
1 cup mashed potatoes
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs

4-5 cups flour
1/2 – 1 cup raisins (optional)

6 tablespoons butter
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon

confectioners sugar

  1. Melt butter and set aside to cool
  2. Heat milk until hot. Set aside a little of the milk to cool in a separate bowl. When the milk cools, dissolve the yeast in the cooled milk
  3. Beat eggs
  4. Mix butter, milk, milk/yeast mixture, 1 cup flour, potatoes, 1/2 cup sugar, and eggs together in a bowl and place in a warm place to rise 2 hours
  5. Add an additional 4-5 cups of flour and raisins (optional) and mix until the dough is not too hard. Let rise again until double
  6. Heat over to 375°
  7. Roll to 1/4". Melt about 6 tablespoons butter and brush butter onto the top of the dough
  8. Mix 1 cup sugar with cinnamon. Sprinkle mixture over the top of the dough
  9. Roll dough and cut into 1 1/2 – 2" rolls
  10. Let rise in pans for a few minutes
  11. Bake at 375° for 15-20 minutes or until light brown
  12. While still warm, spread a mixture of confectioners sugar and water

Makes: varies on how big you make your rolls. The last time I made these, this recipe made enough rolls to fill one 8" square, one 9" round, and one 8×12" rectangle pan.
